On 28 May 2014, it was my pleasure to be in the audience at a presentation offered by Ms. Faith Wood as she delivered a session to a group of County employees in Central Alberta. I am a professional speaker, like Ms. Wood, and I always take every opportunity to attend presentations of other professional speakers as it is always beneficial to see the delivery style and content of other speakers. In observing Ms. Woods session, I spent as much time watching the audience as I did watching Ms. Wood and I was taken aback by the level of engagement and participation she developed in the audience.
The audience was comprised of a group of folks that I would have characterized as “sit and be entertained” people and as she was explaining the audience participation portion of her presentation, I thought to myself “good luck getting these people to participate”. To my delight and the surprise, she had people standing and participating in activities and engagement that I never thought would be possible.
I would attribute her success to her infectious energetic style, her appropriate use of humour and her ability to weave her stories into her instructive content. I was awestruck.
In short, the presentation and delivery style of Ms. Wood provided an engaged, energetic, instructive and powerful session and I would jump at the chance to see her present any of the other sessions she has in her arsenal.
